Working on Hair

"Meaghan" - wip
8" x 8"
watercolor on aquabord

Well, I made some more progress on this yesterday.  I'm fiddling now with her hair.  I paint a little and then stand back and look, I paint a little more, then stand back and look a little more.  It's a slow process, but fun.  I keep assessing the relationships between the shapes, colors and values and I think it's coming together.  I'll do some more work today and hopefully wrap her up.  This has been a fun departure for me.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting.  Have a great day!

  1. Kara, she's looking so good!! You're doing a fabulous job!!

  2. Wat een mooi kopje en het haar gaat heel erg goed maar de uitdrukking op haar gezicht is zo goed getroffen mijn compliment lieve groetjes Danielle

  3. This piece has gradually turned into a true glowing jewel -- the high contrast really sets of her face as if light is shining from it. I cannot wait to see how it turned out finished -- but I know more than anyone else that painting on this surface is a slow and meticulous process. So I will wait patiently!

    1. You know it, Arena . . . It's a long process. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. :)

  4. This is beautiful kara!!! You are a natural at portraiture. :) You have painted two of my favorite subjects (dogs, and kids) now I would like to put in a request for a horse!! :)
