Tedious

work-in-progress
10" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I spent some time working on some of the most tedious parts to this painting today but I think it's coming together  Still have a lot to do and things to fix, but I can see the end game.

Oh how I wish to see skies like that again. Not in the near future though . . . we've got more snow coming tomorrow. Yeesh!

Have a great day.

Just wanted to post an update. Not much to show and the painting has officially entered its awkward stage. Lots of things to correct and straighten.  The process will be slow but I'll keep you posted. Thanks for stopping in.

I'm having some fun playing around with that sky. I'll keep you posted on the progress. I have some interruptions this week in my regular work schedule, but hopefully this one won't take too long and I can finish it this week.

Cheers!

Beacon

work-in-progress
10" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)

Halloooo! I'm still muddling through some of my older paintings that I need to finish but there's not much to show as the progress is slow. So I started a new little one and thought you might like to see it. This is the first pass through. I took this photo a few years ago while I was dropping off some artwork at the Cape Cod Art Association.

Happy Painting!

Bird-Brained

"Big Red"
10" x 7"
(watercolor on paper)

I've had nothing but birds on the brain whenever I've sat down to paint in the past couple weeks. My morning students are painting cardinals so as I've mentioned in previous post, I've painted this image multiple times and in various stages to help them along. Because I've gotten so intimately acquainted with this little fella, I even used him in a painting demonstration for the Quabbin Art Association last week.

Happily I finally finished one of my versions of this guy today.  He's on paper, and luckily I have the perfect mat and frame for him in my inventory, so this one will come all ready to hang. I may have a buyer already, but if not, I will post the specifics.

Below is what this painting looks like all framed up.

I've had to be busy with other things lately, (taxes being one of those things but alas I am done!) so I am ready to paint again and it feels really good!

Have a lovely day.

Lynda.com

Oh dear . . . I can't believe so much time has passed since my last post.  Last week was a little hectic as my dad began some Physical and Occupational Therapy appointments again, which is a good thing.  However, my work routine gets all out of whack and it generally takes me some time to get back into a new flow, trying to fit everything in.

Then add in a new obsession and things really get crazy.

I recently joined lynda.com which is a tutorial site with oodles of creative business related topics. I've always been interested in typography and design and I also wanted to learn more about Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator so I've been spending tons of time watching, note-taking, practicing and learning a bunch of new stuff.  All things that will help add to my own art business.

If you're interested in looking into lynda.com -- they have a free 10-day trial.  I subscribed to their yearly $240 plan that allows me to access any of their classes. So far I've found all their videos clear and engaging, full of information and easy to follow.  I've learned a lot already.

So that's what I've been up to instead of blogging.  I have managed to paint too, just not much to show yet.  Have a great day!

Blueberry Progress

work-in-progress
22" x 30"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I did some more work in this one today.  Inching along, but I like how it's coming together.  It's fun working larger than life.  I think looks pretty cool in person if I do say so myself.

Have a great day today!
