I'm hoping to have this one finished up by tonight.  Thanks for taking a look.  Have a nice day.

More Beginnings

Step 1
Step 2

I think I'm going to call this one "I Drink Alone."  I don't really but I thought the one glass kind of made it an obvious choice.

This painting measures something like 10" x 4.5" and it's actually only a detail of a much larger and ambitious composition. Baby steps.  :)

It really is helpful photographing and posting pictures of my work in progress -- I'm already seeing something that needs fixing.

Thank you for visiting.

Another short post today as I've been trying to keep up with my painting and gardening. The painting is going well . . . my gardens . . . ummmm . . . let's just say, they're getting there.  :) The image below is of a "virtual frame" just to illustrate what this painting could look like framed. This painting seems to appeal to my "early American/antiquing" friends. (notice I didn't say "antique friends!)  :)  Hope you like it as well.

I'm off to bed now. Thank you for stopping by.

Mixing It Up

work in progress

Here's a new painting - one from the time I spent last Fall at Old Sturbridge Village.  It still has a lot of work but I think it's getting there.  The decorative finish on the bureau is beautiful in real life and is quite fun to paint.  Thank you for taking a look.

Love You

I'm hooked on watching/listening to Turner Classic Movies while I paint.  It's Rock Hudson month and tonight Pillow Talk is on - Rock and Doris Day -- my favorite!!  So excuse me if this is a brief post, but the movie just came on.  "You are my inspiration!"  :)

Thank you for stopping by.  Check out TCM if you love old movies. You can watch it on the computer on demand or stream it live.  It's awesome!  :)

"Awesome" -- Take 2

"Awesome" (take 2)
6" x 6"
watercolor on paper

I was very excited and grateful to have sold my painting "Awesome" last week to a new collector.  Unfortunately, when I went to package it up for mailing I couldn't find it! How does that happen, you ask? A couple weeks ago, I re-organized my studio and I think it may have gotten caught up in some old scraps of color swatches and thrown out. I had happened to take this painting out of its packaging to scan and before I put it back I think it was put in the wrong pile. Ugh. In any event, I painted a new one (seen above) and luckily my collector liked the new one just as much. Thank you, MT.  :) And so now it is on its way to its "forever home."

However . . . because I got in the Valentine's Day candy groove again . . . I started this little ditty.  :)

E-Z

I'm pleased with how this finally turned out.  I'll be finishing it with a gloss UV protective finish.  It will not need to be framed under glass nor with a mat.  Thank you for taking a look.

You Gotta Know When To Fold `Em

"E-Z" - wip
8" x 8"
watercolor on aquabord

Aaaaahh . . . Kenny Rogers must've been singing in my ear the past few days. I went back to this composition . . . well, my old painting of this . . . the one I had begun a while ago. I worked on it a couple hours and decided it was time to call it quits. I had made too many missteps along the way and it was beyond repair.  But boy did I learn stuff. So I decided to give the same composition "a go" on aquabord . . . and already I'm happier. I think I'm finally getting better at rendering those crazy letters on the jar.  I love how forgiving aquabord is.  :)

Have a great day.

Birdseye Blueberries

"Birdseye Blueberries"
8" x 10"
watercolor on paper

Click here to bid.  Starting bid:  $65

I decided to call this study done.  I'm doing a series of these studies for larger paintings.  I think they may look cool in white mats with natural wood frames . . . kind of a more contemporary look.  So I've attached a couple images below to show you what I mean.

Thanks for coming by.

Orange Wedgie

"Orange Wedge with Blueberries"
8" x 10"
watercolor on paper

Finally finished my new painting.  :)  I'm hoping it will be a study for a larger painting. That's my plan anyway.  Incidentally -- I've recently been having trouble uploading my images to blogger, in that their colors change when they upload.  Grrr. My friend and fellow blogger, Arena Shawn, tipped me off, that I had the "auto enhance" button clicked on. It was something that Google automatically added to their features at some point.  Arena sent along a site that explains how to turn it off. So fellow bloggers, if this has been happening to you, click here to read how to fix it. The only hitch is that I had to become a Google+ member to fix it -- I don't know if there's another way. And I don't even know what Google+ is -- so this ought to be interesting. I may find myself deactivating that in a few days - good grief, Charlie Brown. In the meantime though, my images are uploading more accurately now.  "Me happy now!"  And thank you, Arena. :)

Anyway - - below is an idea of what this painting could look like framed. Noticed I cropped some white from the top -- a collector could frame it however he/she may prefer. I'm so dang accommodating!  :)

Have a nice day.
