Just thought I'd post my progress.  I'm moving between projects today -- lots of big fruit to contend with!  Have a great day.  :)

Big Grapes

Big Grapes - wip 1

Big Grapes - wip 2

whole sheet!

I know, I know . . . I still have a whole bunch of wip's to work on, so why start a new one?  Well . . . sometimes I get an idea and just HAVE to jump in.  It's good to get back to some of the studio projects I've begun -- either in my head, photo shoots, or already on paper.  This one just happens to be a project from a photo shoot of grapes and other fruit that I took a few weeks ago.  The photos came out pretty cool I thought.  Very sleek and contemporary - unlike me.  Ha!  I wanted to do them larger than life for more impact and wouldn't allow myself to start until I finished my two commissions.  After today, I'm sure I'll be bouncing around, trying to finish things up.  I have another bigger than life fruit painting to work on too (among many others!)  I'll eventually get to them all.  Thanks for stopping by.

Brady

"Brady"
8" x 8"
(private collection)

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  I finished up two commissions last week.  This is the pet portrait of "Brady" (yes, his owners are New England Patriot fans).  I had a mishap with the gloss medium finish coating but will spare you the gory details.  Let's just say, at hour zero I was repainting the entire painting.  I'm pleased with the results, but could have forgone the last minute stress.  And being the perfectionist that I am, I get a little sick thinking of the "original" and knowing that this isn't totally it.  But again, I'm pleased, and more importantly Brady's owners are pleased.  It's just my own obsessive compulsive issues.

Below is a shot of Brady framed . . . and one of the work in progress.  Now that my two biggies are done, I'm excited to start one new pet portrait commission and get back to my regular paintings this week.

Have a great day and thank you for coming by.

Bookmarks

Hello again.  I'm still working on commissions, although I'm pretty much finished with the large acrylic.  I'll be posting that in a few weeks but have to wait until after it's delivered as it's a surprise.

As for the above image -- I had some bookmarks made.  I think they're cute and have my information on the backside.  I had them made at OvernightPrints.com in case you're looking to have some made.  Lots of people use VistaPrint -- but for some reason, I don't particularly care for them - but hey, if they work for you -- by all means use them.  However, if you're looking for another online printing service, Overnight has always done a great job for me, and I think their prices are pretty competitive.  I like that they can do fairly small runs, allowing me to change up my designs.

Anyhoo . . . that's the latest news here.  I'm finishing up one more commission -- a dog portrait -- and we all know how much I LOVE DOGS!  :)  This one will be done today and delivered tomorrow so I'm excited to finally be able to post it.  That one is a surprise, and I think the recipients do tend to occasionally check out my blog.  Oh my goodness . . . and I've probably already said to much.  I just get so excited.

Anyway . . . really . . . I haven't been slacking . . . just working on other stuff.  :)

Have a great day . . . thank you for stopping in and keep on paintin'!

Commission Sneak Peek

I think it's safe to show you these little snippets from my latest commission as my clients have seen it thus far.  I'm expecting to have the painting part done by today or tomorrow. The painting is a 22" x 42" acrylic on panel. A little different than watercolor, but still a water medium. The colors in these images haven't been corrected so each one may look a little off -- but you get the idea.

I hope you have a lovely day and weekend and as always, I appreciate you stopping by to check out my blog. I'm excited to share with you the final painting all framed up.  So stay tuned . . . same bat channel . . .

Blueberry Baby Steps

Untitled
9" x 12"

I'm not sure if this is done or not.  I worked on it Monday in a friend's studio, and it definitely looked like it needed more work.  But then, I got it home and started thinking it was done.  I'm going to sit on it for a few days (not literally, so don't worry).  :)  I'm still working on my commissions, so I don't have too much time to spend on this anyway.

I hope you all are well . . . like I said, I've been working on my commissions which explains my few days' absence from blogging.  Unfortunately I can't share with you just yet, any photos of my work, but I will as soon as the paintings are all done and delivered.  That will be within the next week or so.

Thanks for stopping by and have a painterly day!

So Proud

"all together now . . ."

Well, tonight was the last night of my watercolor workshop.  I am sooo proud of my "On the Vine" students and happy to share their paintings with you.  Look at how well they turned out.  While they are all the same subject, each one has its own style and personality.  And pretty much these are all from first time painters!  I'm so proud of "my ladies'" patience and commitment.  I mean, look at the depth on some of these tomatoes!  :)  What a great class -- thank you so much Donna, Jacqui, Joanne and June.

Scammers!

Hello all!  I've been working diligently on a commission today, so I haven't a new progress shot to post, but I wanted to share with you the following email I received today regarding "A Moment's Rest:"

Good day, hope you are good.
I actually observed my wife has been viewing your website (artwork in subject field above) on my laptop and i guess she likes that artwork, I must also say you are doing a great job. I would like to know what inspired that artwork.
I am very much interested in the purchase to surprise my wife.  Kindly email me if it is still available for immediate sales.
Thanks and God bless,
Steve Leavitt.

I was immediately suspicious so I googled the sender and sure enough, it's a scam. Just as I thought. So if any of you artist friends of mine receive such an email, don't waste your time!  And here's the link to the "Anti-Scam Samurai" where I confirmed my suspicions. (practically the exact same email)  Good work, Katie Moe!  :)  And a big booooo to the scammers!

Have a lovely day . . . hope to have some pics for you tomorrow.
