I've decided to auction off some of the little paintings I've been doing.  I think they would look sweet all matted and framed up.  This is the first one.

More Challenges

Misty Forest - work in progress
10" x 8"
watercolor on aquabord

I spent today doing some more experimenting - this time on aquabord.  I used the amazing Nita Engle's book How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself to guide me - referencing one of her paintings in the book, just to get a handle on some of her techniques.

Sketching

I've always found landscape painting to be quite challenging.  All that extraneous information that needs to be edited has always confused me.  Joyce Hicks (whose work & process I find VERY inspiring) emphasizes creating shapes - so I've been doing some pencil sketching and working on values & temperature through little thumbnail studies.  It's been fun.  I'll be sharing some more over the next few posts.  Thanks for visiting!

This was a little demonstration painting I did for some of my students.  We've been spending some time just getting back to basics.  I've decided to auction this one off with a starting bid of $30 -- oooh what a bargain, eh!?  Ha!  Click on the button above to bid or just to get a closer view.

Thank you for viewing my work.

Be Mine

"Be Mine"
8" x 8"
watercolor on paper

Wow!!  It's been a very long time.  I never thought I'd be away from blogging for so long, but I must say, the "vacation" has been delightful.  Although, I'm very glad to be back painting again.  Pablo Villicana Lara invited me to paint & post a Valentine painting and I'm so happy he did.  It was just the push I needed to get back in the saddle.  Pablo is an amazing artist, so please check out his work.

Thanks for stopping by.
