Peony in Glass

"Peony in Glass" - 12" x 12" - watercolor on clayboard - $350

This another peony painting that has been on display at the Palmer Public Library in Palmer, MA.  I think painting flowers is difficult business and peonies is NO exception!  So kudos to all you flower painters!

The image below is of this painting in its frame.  Since the painting is on aquabord, it has been treated with a UV protective finish.  It's gloss and has a little texture . . . like the painting has been painted on linen.  Just an experiment for me, but I think it turned out quite nice.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.

"Coke Bottles" a.k.a. "I Can See Again"

"Coke Bottles" - 12" x 12" - watercolor on 7/8" cradled aquabord

Click here to bid: opening bid is $400

So . . . I think we're done here.  I mean . . . I could continue to fiddle all day long with this thing, but at some point you have to ask yourself, "have I said enough to get my point across?"  I think I have.

The title seems to be a bit obvious, albeit boring, but here's a little backstory that lets you in on my private joke:  Earlier this week I picked up my first pair of bifocals from the optician!  So as you can SEE (ha, ha) . . . "coke bottles" has a double meaning for me.  I shall always remember this painting fondly . . . as yet another significant step toward old-age!  Ha!  But really, it is SO delightful to see again!

Thank you for dropping by.

The Attorney's Door

"The Attorney's Door" - 18" x 24" - watercolor on aquabord - $1,850

So I finally got around to taking a few photos of some of the work that I finished at the end of 2015 that went into a show at Palmer Public Library in Palmer, MA.  This is one of those paintings.  I'm excited to paint a little larger this year and this painting was a good start.  The subject of the painting is the lawyer's office at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA.  The Village is a great place to visit and I find it extremely inspiring.  It speaks to my soul.  :)

This paining comes framed just like the image below.  I think it's a lovely piece if I do say so myself and is quite nice in person.

This is the actual painting all framed and ready to hang!

Thank you for stopping by!

Progress and New Class

work-in-progress

This one seems to be shaping up . . . although at this stage in the game, progress is slow:  lots of details and tweaking.

I am starting to schedule my 2016 classes, beginning with this Intermediate Watercolor class in February.  You can read more about it here.  It's fast approaching but I hope you can join us!

"Vine Ripened"

I have wanted to post for a few days now, but for some reason Blogger isn't working on Safari.  So after a few days of frustration, I downloaded Firefox.  The interface is a little messed up . . . the caption for the above image is all wonky.  I'm hoping that when I publish the post, it looks correct.  Sometime the code and the way it looks on the screen don't match up.

Anyway . . . here are a few images from my latest work.  I've got a few paintings going and my goal is to finish two this week.  Yeow!  I better start painting!

Oh and if you are confused by my title to this post . . . click here.  LOVE the Andrew Sisters . . . especially "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy!"  :)

New Hydrangea Painting - wip

work-in-progress
14" x 11"
watercolor on cradled clayboard

So in addition to the other paintings I'm working on . . . I spent some time last night working on this new painting.  I like skipping around.  While one thing is drying I can attack areas of other paintings.  It keeps things exciting!  :)

Have a great weekend and thank you for coming by.
