Colorful
![]() |
| work-in-progress watercolor on cradled aquabord 12" x 12" |
We've had some very gray days all week so I needed a little color in my life. I began this painting earlier in the week. It's moving along well, so I hope to have it finished along with my blueberries in the next week.
Coloring Book Update: I checked with tracking and my proof should be here this afternoon! It's at the local P.O. as I type. I'm so excited!
In other news . . . I'm sharing these photos of a painting I recently sold. My collector has a very talented brother-in-law who dabbles in wood-working and he crafted this perfect little frame for "Fill-It-Up . . . Hi-Test." I think it's delightful, don't you?
Have a great day and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

Day off
My plate is really full this month and so I've given myself permission to take time off from Leslie Saeta's 30 Day Challenge if I need it. Even God took a day off, right? Although I don't know that painting a painting a day is equivalent to creating . . . well, EVERYTHING. Ha! But seriously, I think 25 paintings would be perfect actually, because I love the square. My paintings are square and 25 would give me a 5 x 5 square of paintings. :)
So instead here is a recap of my paintings so far. I like them all together. Yippee! See you tomorrow.
Thanks for swinging by.

Getting Ready
I've been busy preparing for my "Open Studio" during the Backroads Studio Tour this weekend, so I've been a little neglectful with regards to this blog. Over the weekend I found myself painting walls and re-designing my studio for the new workshop I'm giving. (There's nothing like a deadline to get you motivated!) The 5-week class began Monday night and was terrific! I have four great students, all of whom are eager to learn. And because I was able to rid myself of the couch over the weekend (gotta love Craig's List!) there's a ton more room for everyone to have ample space. (Although the dogs are beside themselves because their "napping bed" is now missing.) Anyway . . . I'll be sure to take pictures this weekend so you can see what I've done.
So I'm going to get back to work preparing prints and attending to last minute details. If you are in the area and are looking for something to do, come on out. It looks like it's going to be a great weekend weather-wise and there are lots of Fall things to do in addition to visiting artist studios -- antique and gift shops, great places to eat, orchards to visit and lots of places to get pumpkins! You can visit www.backroadsstudiotour.com or click on the image above, for a map and more information. We hope to see you!

Raspberries & Fun With Cropping!
![]() |
| "Raspberries" 8.75" x 9" (watercolor on Fabriano soft-pressed paper) |
I had a very busy weekend -- visiting my brother and sister-in-law on Saturday and then a trip to Fenway to watch the Red Sox win today! But I did manage to get a glaze or two on "Raspberries" to finish it up. I'm not sure I like all the space around the actual carton, so I had some fun in Photoshop cropping it in tighter, both centered and a little off-center, while playing around with what it would look like matted and framed. You can view my experiments below. And please let me know what you think. I will put this painting up for auction tomorrow -- but will sell it the way it is and let the buyer decide how they would like it cropped . . . or not. Have a great day and thank you for visiting . . . I'm off to bed!

On Line - Continued

| "On Line at the Theatre" - wip 11" x 14" |
I worked on this some more today and it's starting to develop. But I must admit, I spent a good portion of the day outdoors, chillin' by the pool, trying to squeeze out some more summer before it's gone. Here in the Northeast our sweet, warm days are numbered, so I'm trying to make the most of what's left of them. But I'll try to work harder tomorrow . . . (at my tan) . . . nooooo . . . my painting! :)
Thanks for visiting!

Bouncing Around

| "Raspberries" -- wip 9" x 9" |
I'm still working on all my citrus paintings but in the meantime I couldn't resist starting another one. :) So here's my work in progress on "Raspberries." I'm back working on the Fabriano for this one. I do love that paper! That and the Aquabord are my favorite surfaces.
