Oh Boy

"Cape Cod Engine House"
12" x 12"
(watercolor on aquabord)
$400

Oh boy . . . I guess I completely dropped the ball last week.  It was a very busy week personally, and I didn't get much painting or blogging done.  Ouch.  I'm gearing up though for my Open House on October 1st and 2nd  as part of theannual Backroads Studio Tour here in central Massachusetts.  So I will be cleaning and re-organizing my studio and PAINTING lots this week.

This painting will be on display and for sale during the tour.  It comes framed and ready to hang as shown below.  If you are in the area I hope you are able to take a ride out.  It's a really lovely event -- lots of art to see.  Not to mention, who doesn't love New England in the Fall?

Have a great start to your week!

Remember These?

A few weeks ago I gave you a couple of "sneak peeks" of the commission I was working on.  Well here are the "peeks" and their finished paintings.  These are the final two of the group of five paintings.

It's been a bit of crazy week so far and I admittedly haven't done much painting --- gaaaahh! So nothing much to show. But I'm gearing to get back on track tonight.

"Marinara"

Here is the final commission all together.  I think they're pretty neat.  Have a great rest of the day!

Days #10 and #11

"Cool Treats"
8" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)
SOLD

So . . . I didn't do any painting this weekend.  I played in a golf tournament with some dear, old friends on Saturday. And quite frankly I am so out of shape that on Sunday I felt like a limp dishrag. I did nothing all day but lounge around and watch "The Office" on Netflix.  Pathetic. And we rode in carts! Hahaha!

"Espresso"
8" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)
SOLD

Anyway . . . I am posting two of the five commissioned paintings I worked on this summer.  They made it to their forever home so I can now share them.  It was a very fun series to do.  Each painting is of a favorite food for each member of my client's family.  The paintings can hang together and then go with each family member as they leave home.  I thought it was a nice idea.

Golfing with my club cover who is apparently near-sighted.

And here's a quick pic from Saturday's antics.  Lots of laughs!  Have a good Monday . . . hope you are feeling rested, I know I am . . . and ready to work!

Made some progress on this one.  Have a great weekend!  I have some things to do this weekend, but I hope to get some painting in.  I'll touch base when I do.

Days #7 and #8

"Perched"
8" x 8"
(watercolor on cradled aquabord)

Just a quick post today.  I've been working on my new series and trying to finish up some older paintings.  I have my Backroads Studio Tour coming up -- October 1st and 2nd -- my annual Open House and have lots to prepare.  I'll keep you posted . . .

Day #6 - Oh, Oh, Domino-o

wip-1
8" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I just love starting new paintings!  So here's another one in the series in its infancy.  It's so delightful jumping from painting to painting, while prepping other new ones.  This is such a fun project!

Have a great day!

Day #5

wip-1
12" x 12"
(watercolor on aquabord)

Hershey's syrup was one of my most favorite things when I was a kid.  I had cocoa made with milk and Hershey's, every morning for breakfast . . . along with a poached egg on toast.  Aaaahh, the breakfast of champions.  :)

Days #3 & #4

"Perched" - wip
8" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I've been working on my series and am trying to decide how much of the labels to keep.  The marinara sauce is from Wegmans but I hated how the lettering was coming out.  I may just keep it off altogether.  I like the anonymity.

"SOS" - wip
6" x 6"
(watercolor on aquabord)

Same with SOS . . . I'm not sure how much I want to keep of the label.  This one has a long way to go as far as I'm concerned.  I'm not thrilled with how it's coming out.  Time will tell whether it makes the cut.  :)

Hope you had a good weekend!

Day #2 - Underway

"Perched" - wip
8" x 8"
(watercolor on aquabord)

Because I know that I won't be completing a painting a day for the next month, I decided I would post my progress. You'll be able to catch a glimpse into my crazy way of painting.

starting #3 -- "Heinz" - wip
12" x 12"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I like to skip around. You've probably figured that out if you've followed my blog.

"SOS" - wip
6" x 6"
(watercolor on aquabord)

I chose colorful packaging and/or time-tested, classic products for my paintings.  While I put some thought into the planning, admittedly, I didn't really labor over which products to paint.  I'm mostly doing this just for the fun of it.  There's nothing really deep about this series.  Although I think it's an interesting recording of the packaging of contemporary products.

The first three paintings ...
6" x 6" -- 12" x 12" -- 8" x 8"

I'm enjoying putting together this cohesive series and the colors and details are easily keeping my attention. I'm having a good time!  ... and isn't that important?

Thank you for popping by.

Day #1 - "Perched"

"Perched" - wip

I recently completed a commission where I painted a series of favorite food items for a client.  I had so much fun, that I decided to continue my exploration of packaging.  So I pulled out some things from my pantry and began to plan out a little series of paintings for Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  As I explained in my previous post, I won't be completing 30 paintings, but I'm going to work on 9 square paintings of various sizes.  Here's my first day's progress.

Enjoy your day and thank you for stopping by.

No, This Isn't Garlic

"White Pumpkin"
8" x 8"
(watercolor on cradled aquabord)
starting bid:  $70

At first I wasn't sure if I should actually name this painting "Not Garlic" but I decided not to.  :)  It's actually a small white pumpkin and I wanted to experiment with whites.  Not to mention I needed another square gourd painting for the month of October on my 2017 calendar.

Today is the first day of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge that Leslie Saeta hosts.  I know that I won't be able to paint 30 paintings, but I've challenged myself to begin a series of 9 paintings:  three 6" x 6" -- three 8" x 8" -- and three 12" x 12" paintings.  I've been inspired by a commission I just completed, so stay tuned in to see my progress.  I don't know if I'll be able to complete the 9 paintings in one month, but I intend to try.  I'm excited.

Thanks for checking in   . . . have a lovely day!
