Workshop13 Class Photos and Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought I'd share some photos from Tuesday night's class at Workshop13.  I think the paintings are coming along just bully!  Wishing all my U.S. readers a very Happy Thanksgiving -- and safe travels to all those who find themselves in planes, trains or automobiles.  Cheers!

Percolating

This is a little painting I have wanted to paint for awhile now.  I picked up this vintage coffee pot about a year ago at the famed Brimfield Flea Market.  I thought it would be interesting trying to create the illusion of glass, with all its distortions of the patterned background -- it was fun.  I hope you like it . . . and thank you for viewing my work.

New and Stylish

blue calendar holder

"What the heck is this?" you ask -- well let me tell you!  :)  My husband and I collaborated on a little project for my Backroads Studio Tour back in October, but I never too any photos until now.  Sigh.  This is a calendar holder, fit to hold my 2014 calendars.  I have two holders still available - one in red and one in blue -- both antiqued for a slightly aged, more subdued finish.  Each one is outfitted with a vintage knob as a unique detail.  I am hoping to sell these last two holders before the holidays -- they would make a lovely gift.  Or what a great little housewarming present? I have posted them on my 2014 Calendar page.

Thank you for visiting and reading my shameless little plug.  :)  Now I'm off to paint!  (more images below).

Double Take

Enamel Coffee Pot

If this painting looks familiar you're not crazy.  I painted this a few years ago but recently had some students who want to try painting it, so I decided to do it again.  Painting it again will help me teach it properly.  I probably should have changed up the background color, but since they will be painting it in blue, I kept it the same.  The original piece sold at a local art show.  I never tire of these simple graphic images on printed backgrounds.  I need to work on more references of this type.

Thank you for viewing my work.

"Knight's Store"

"Knight's Store"
6.75" x 9"
watercolor on paper

I was maybe going to enter this piece in local show, but ultimately decided to put it up for auction instead.  It comes as is, backed with foamcore and contained in a protective, plastic sleeve, however, I did purchase a frame and mat and could always frame it for a buyer for an additional cost.

Thank you for taking the time to stop in.  Have a great weekend!

Hanging Christmas Holly

"Hanging Christmas Holly"
8" x 5"
watercolor on paper
starting bid:  $65

I'm teaching a 5-week class at Workshop13 in Ware, beginning tomorrow night and while I had described a "country Christmas still life" as the painting we would be tackling, I hadn't yet painted it --  Yeow!  So last week I started the still life below, hoping that we could paint that - but it's way too complicated.  So today (double-YEOW!)  I decided on just this sprig of holly dangling from a nail on one of my interior doors.  It's still quite challenging, but very doable.

"Redware and Berries" - wip
6" x 6"
watercolor on paper

So for the next few days I'll be trying to finish up "Redware and Berries" and some others.  I need to work on some smaller paintings again and get them up on DPW -- it's been a while.  I guess this is a start.  :)

Thank you for viewing my work.

Finished!

"Knight's Store"
6.75" x 9"
watercolor on paper

I think I will be putting this in a local show in Jaffrey, NH.  I haven't yet decided on a price, but it's matted to 11"x14" right now.  Hopefully I can get a frame tomorrow.  I'll keep you posted.  Thank you for visiting my blog.  :)  Keep on paintin'!

Another Work In Progress

"Knight's Store" - wip
 6.75" x 9"

Well you know me . . . I got all jazzed about the photos I took at Old Sturbridge Village last week and had to try one out.  Also a friend of mine, and fellow watercolorist, gave me some different papers she thought I'd like to experiment with:  I thought Knight's Store would make a fine subject.   So in the midst of my Christmas Card painting, I started this yesterday and finished it up today.  This photo is from this morning, before I began working today.  I will be tweaking and photographing the final version tomorrow.  I'll also get back to my card -- must get that one done soon so I can order my cards.

Happy painting . . . and thank you for taking a peek at my blog.
