Getting Engaged? . . . Paper Heart No. 1

"Paper Heart No. 1"
6" x 6"
(watercolor on paper)

So I've been going through some of my older paintings and thinking of different ways to market them. Besides this one going into a little girl's room, or as a Valentine's gift (all great ideas), I thought that it could also be a lovely gift for someone who is getting engaged. Can you just picture it? It's Christmas -- and the recipient might be expecting an engagement ring but first opens this instead, which of course under normal circumstances would be a perfectly lovely gift.

(thought bubble: Thank you honey, but where's my ring?)

Doh!  Another gift.  Oh boy . . . out comes the little gift-wrapped box.  Hmmmm . . . a little paper heart like the one in the painting.  (thought bubble:  Oh wow . . . now that's really disappointing.)

Oh, but wait . . . no worries . . . there's another gift . . . (cue the little box, the violins, the kneeling) . . . "Will You Marry Me?"

Why of course!  (Oh joy!  Crisis averted.)  :)

framed
This painting comes matted and framed under plexiglas, as shown above, and is ready to hang (commemorating your special event).  And included is a paper heart like the one in the painting. (Unfortunately I think the original heart is long gone, but I made a new one just like it.)

And don't forget . . . if you are around Central Massachusetts, please come by my Open Studio on Dec. 2nd or 3rd.  Karen Healey of "The Dappled Ewe" will be here with me. She dyes wool, hooks rugs and makes decorative hangings.  Her work is just beautiful. You can read more about her here

It's also "White Christmas" that weekend in the center of West Brookfield with lots of shops to visit and food to eat, not to mention my friend, June of  "June's Bakeshop" is just up the road.  She has a charming shop full of beautiful cookies, cakes, cupcakes and other treats.

Valentine's Day cards and gift wrap

"Paper Heart #3" notecard

I mentioned yesterday that I have a midwinter sale going on over at my storenvy shop.  Included in the 20% off sale is my valentine notecard.  You can access it out here.

I've also done some updating to my Spoonflower shop where I have a few fabric/gift wrap/wallpaper designs for sale.  I recently added my "Elvis Man" design (see previous post) ... I think it's pretty unique ... and will be adding my Valentine patterns as soon as I receive and approve my proofs.

Coming soon . . . "Pretty in Pink" and "Dancing Hearts."  "Elvis Man" is already available for purchase as fabric or gift wrap.  I can't imagine anyone wanting to wallpaper a room with The King -- ha! -- but I can certainly make it available as wallpaper should someone be interested.

my latest designs -- Valentine patterns not yet for sale -- but keep checking back at:

Be Mine

"Be Mine"
8" x 8"
watercolor on paper

Wow!!  It's been a very long time.  I never thought I'd be away from blogging for so long, but I must say, the "vacation" has been delightful.  Although, I'm very glad to be back painting again.  Pablo Villicana Lara invited me to paint & post a Valentine painting and I'm so happy he did.  It was just the push I needed to get back in the saddle.  Pablo is an amazing artist, so please check out his work.

Thanks for stopping by.

"Awesome" -- Take 2

"Awesome" (take 2)
6" x 6"
watercolor on paper

I was very excited and grateful to have sold my painting "Awesome" last week to a new collector.  Unfortunately, when I went to package it up for mailing I couldn't find it! How does that happen, you ask? A couple weeks ago, I re-organized my studio and I think it may have gotten caught up in some old scraps of color swatches and thrown out. I had happened to take this painting out of its packaging to scan and before I put it back I think it was put in the wrong pile. Ugh. In any event, I painted a new one (seen above) and luckily my collector liked the new one just as much. Thank you, MT.  :) And so now it is on its way to its "forever home."

However . . . because I got in the Valentine's Day candy groove again . . . I started this little ditty.  :)
