I thought you might enjoy looking at these progress shots of my next Christmas card.  I usually do one for us and one for my dad (unless he decides to purchase his at Ocean State Job Lot . . . it's tough to pass up a bargain!)  :)

Cheers!

Lots of Newsy Bits

"selfie" - Ali and me
(Ali looks great . . . however not my most flattering angle - why the long face, Kara?)

First off, let me just say that Ali Cavanaugh's show, "Immerse," at the Gold Gallery in Boston is extraordinary.  It is up until October 18th, I would encourage anyone in the area to go see it.  You will not be disappointed. What a talent!  Last Friday my friend, Sue and I attended the opening reception and were lucky enough to meet Ali who is kind and humble and just a delight to talk to.  She, and her work is so inspiring.  It was such a great evening!

After the show --

Chatting with Ali -
Look at the scale of those paintings!  They were just stunning in person.
(pay no attention to my crazy fish fin hair)

Now back to my drawing board . . . I started another sepia painting.  This one on aquabord.

Christmas?!

"Nantucket Christmas"
9.25" x 5.5"
(watercolor on paper)

What am I thinking?!  I can't say I'm looking forward to winter, but I am looking forward, preparing for my 2015 Christmas cards.  So this is my first design for this year.  My Thursday morning ladies inspired me . . . the "beachy" window was their idea.  I'm so lucky to have such creative students!

I haven't yet come up with the inside sentiment, but if you'd like more information about getting a jump on the holidays and ordering cards, please email me kkoz517@charter.net.

Number Five!

"Value #5"
8" x 8"
(watercolor on paper)

It's been a little hectic around here with some family projects and appointments, but all is well.  I just haven't found time to finish paintings and post.  But I'm still painting.  It brings me such joy and peace to put my brush to paper.

Wishing you a great day full of joy and peace.  Thank you for stopping by.

"Value #4"

"Value #4"

It's Day 10 but this is my fourth painting in Leslie Saeta's 30 Day Painting Challenge.  I've been painting close to every day (although I took off Sunday to work on an outdoor project) and am really enjoying this groove I'm in.  (And those of you who know me, know how much I like to groove!)  :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Oh and I've included another progress shot of the larger geranium painting if you scroll down.  It's coming along.

Still painting

"Value #4"  - sip
8" x 8"
(watercolor on paper)

I've decided to try and complete 3 paintings per week for Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge."  This is my fourth, although it's not quite done  . . . I'm just letting it set a bit while I work on some others.

I've also begun a few larger pieces, one of which I've posted below as a couple of progress shots.  It's actually a little further along and I'm hoping to wrap it up this week.  So while my blog may have been idle a few days, I certainly have not.  :)

Cheers to all!  Thank you for stopping by.

Catching Up

Value #3 - work in progress
8" x 8"
(watercolor on paper)

I really enjoy working on these sepia toned pencil paintings.  This is the third one in my series as part of Leslie Saeta's "30 Day Painting Challenge."  I've decided these paintings could look very striking framed in white mats with dark brown, wooden frames, so I'll be putting them up for auction.  My plan is to have about 8 to 10 of them, all 8"x 8".  The first one is below with a link to its auction.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!  :)

30 in 30

Value #1
8" x 8"
(watercolor on paper)

Well . . . it's that time of year again:  Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge."  I won't be painting 30 paintings . . . probably not even close . . . but I'm planning on consistently working on my use of value through a couple series of different subjects.  So here's my first study.
