Put down some more washes -- shadows and started the reflections in the bowl. Stay tuned . . . it's been a busy week. I've been catching some time on this, while also working on a large commission. Thank you for visiting my blog!

Tomato Class
Here are a couple more progress shots of the work my students are doing in my "On The Vine" workshop. Because of vacations and such, we've decided to extend the class one more week, so I'll post the finished images next week. There's one more student, but she took hers home before I had a chance to photograph it. Aren't these looking great!?
And here's what I've begun . . .

Blueberry Still Life
"Blueberry Still Life' 6.6" x 6" watercolor on paper |

Happy Monday everyone. It's a lovely summer day here in the Northeast. There are some clouds, but mostly it's sunny. I finished this little painting this morning and plan on heading outdoors this afternoon to do a little weeding before my class tonight. Hope you have a great start to your week!

Are We There Yet?
I feel like I'm 6 years old on a long car ride . . . my brother and I whining "are we there yet?" Of course this time, I'm muttering "am I done yet?" So close. But I'm just so sick of this painting that motivating myself to finish it is tough. So in the meantime, I began this one . . . because blueberries make me happy. :) Have a lovely day.

Late Post
I forgot to post the progress my students from my "On The Vine" workshop, made last week. So here are 3 -- at various stages. All my students have taken their paintings home to work on them, and unfortunately I only took photos of three of the paintings -- I missed the fourth! Sorry! I'm really excited to see what they come back with next Monday . . . they are all doing terrific work and I think are having a good time. I'll be sure to post some shots after that class.
As for my work . . . I'm working on a large commission, but have started a small watercolor and will post my progress in the next few days. In the meantime -- Happy Painting! :)

Kitchen Window Daisies
"Kitchen Window Daisies" 8.5" x 5.5" watercolor on hot-pressed paper |
I love fresh flowers. And I particularly enjoy daisies. Meg Ryan, in one of my favorite movies ("You've Got Mail"), once described daisies as "the friendliest flower." I must agree. Anyway . . . I plucked these little gems from my garden last week and put them on my kitchen window sill. I hope you enjoy them.
In case you're interested, I put a few progress shots below.
Have a lovely day!

Progress Shot -- Almost Done
I had a lovely day painting with my dear friend, Bill, while he worked on a sculpture. He's an art teacher where I used to work and we've been friends since high school. He's an amazing teacher and artist -- I'll have to post some shots sometime of the piece he's working on. He's very talented.
So this is what I worked on today. Just a few more tweaks and it will go up onto DPW for auction by the end of this week. This one is back on Fabriano hot pressed paper. It was great fun and came together pretty fast. Have a loverly day!

Big Fruit
Here are some progress shots of a new painting I've been working on. It measures about 17" x 10" so the fruit is larger than life. I think that always has great impact. Hope you had a great weekend. I'm planning out my work for this week. I'm always very excited on Mondays. :)

Dough Bowl?
"Fruit in a Dough Bowl" 9.5" x5.5" watercolor on paper |
I wasn't really sure about what to call this painting (what else is new?) The vessel the fruit is contained in, is some kind of small wooden bowl -- although not technically a dough bowl. But instead of calling this "Fruit in Some Kind of Small Wooden Bowl that isn't Technically a Dough Bowl" I decided to go for the abridged version and just fib a little. I know, you're thinking "how can one girl be so creative with her titles?!" (Good Heavens, I'm boring.)
Thank you for taking a peek. Have a lovely weekend! :)

I did a larger painting of this window last year, but I wanted to play with the composition. So I painted this little version of it . . . I hope you like it.
Below are a few progress shots.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day!

More fruit -- work in progress
I thought you might like to see the progress on this one. It's still in progress, but it came together pretty quickly the other day. (Actually, that's why I don't have any really early photos . . . the first washes just went on so nicely and quickly.) I kind of just started the whole painting on a whim. Hopefully I can finish it up and get it up for auction soon. Thanks for taking a peek!

On The Mantel
"On The Mantel" 7.75" x 5" watercolor on paper |
I started this little painting a while ago -- in late winter/early spring actually. I hadn't much to finish, and actually had forgotten about it until I ran across it the other day in the studio. I'm glad to have finally completed it.
Thanks for taking a look! Have a delightful day.

Vine Ripened
"Vine Ripened" 5.75" x 7.75" watercolor on paper |
I thought you might like to see these progress shots again. I had hoped to finish all three paintings last week, but only got through two. The strawberry is killing me! :) So I planned out my week . . . beginning three new paintings this morning, two of which I've made a lot of progress on already. So I'm off to a good start -- hoping to have a productive week. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Happy Fourth of July!
"Berries and Cherries II" 6.4" x 5.75" watercolor on paper SOLD |
I thought this painting a very fitting image for the Fourth of July, what with all it's red, white and blue . . . Happy Independence Day! I've posted my progress shots below in case you missed them before -- and just because I think it looks cool to click on them and watch the painting change before your very eyes! :)
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Kind of patriotic I think . . . Happy Fourth of July Eve to all my American friends! :) Light a sparkler for me. Thanks for stopping by.

Another Progress Shot . . . and Rejection
Just thought I'd share this shot of my progress on these 3 paintings. Also, I entered "A Moments Rest" in the Academic Artists Association's show and was rejected. You just never know. So if you're a beginner out there (most of us who've been doing this for a while know already) -- you just can't get down or take it personally if you get rejected from a juried show -- it happens to all of us at one time or another and I've definitely had my fair share . . . with many more to come I'm sure.
I've included a couple shots of "A Moment's Rest" all framed up because I thought it came out really well.
Have a great day!
