"Kerosene Lamp" -- wip |
So I'm finishing up "Raspberries" . . . still have a little more work on it and I started "Kerosene Lamp" today. I just couldn't pass up starting this one. I took the photo in my front hall. We'll see how it comes out. Carrie Waller is the glass expert but I'm going to give this one a whirl anyway. A girl has to start somewhere, eh? :) And I still have those citrus paintings to finish -- the oranges and limes -- not to mention a few other still life paintings. I'm also working on a 6" x 6" floral that I'm just starting to draw now. Yeesh, I've got a lot of painting to do! I'm very excited. Have a good weekend.
Haha! I see you have attention deficiency just like I do -- I am yet to finish my pink rose but can't help to start the drawing of another three little paintings, plus a big one I want to submit to a show. They all will get finished someday though, yours and mine, I know it ;-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your foliage through the window. They have very beautiful color and edge quality, and makes interesting shapes. That makes the window a beautiful little abstract painting by itself, I can see you did a soft underpainting wet in wet, but the second layer -- with its irregular edges -- are those painted dry then edges feathered out with a damp brush? Or are they painted on damp paper as well, just as the paper was drying out a little? I can't tell so I figure I'd better ask ;-)
Looking forward to see how you render the glass of the lantern. I loved your previous glass bottle piece so I'm sure this one will turn out gorgeously as well. ^___^
Thanks for the nice comments Arena. As for the foliage -- I think I painted everything while the paper was still pretty damp. Oh, but then after it dried, I went into the white parts and softened some of the hard edges.
DeleteCan't wait to see how it turns out:) Your raspberries look fantastic. I got some blackberries in the cute turquoise container but they were so good the kids had them eaten before I got a photo:) Thanks for the shout out. I would say painting glass is just like painting anything else but I'm attempting a floral tonight and I'm finding it harder than glass.
ReplyDeleteI saw your floral and it's wonderful! Thanks for the comments . . . we'll see how it turns out. :)
