In The Works

"Black-eyed Susans" -- wip

"Black-eyed Susans" (detail)

"Black-eyed Susans" (detail)

Here's the old painting that I mentioned in a previous post.  I recently unearthed it and decided to work on it again.  It's a big one for me -- 16" x 16" -- especially for all this detail.  I'm not sure how accurate the colors are to the original painting as I didn't spend any time trying to even calibrate them to my monitor -- but you can at least get an idea of what the heck I'm doing.  The last image is a little blurry -- oh well.  Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

  1. I like this a lot, it has promise. You play a lot with the size difference etc. I like that.

  2. It's going to be gorgeous. Love the blues and oranges. The shadows and highlights on the flower in the small detail are really beautiful.

I love Carrie's feature on you this morning!

    1. Oh wow -- I didn't even know I was on Carrie's blog today -- thanks for letting me know, that's exciting. :) And thank you for the kind remarks Virginia. I really appreciate you taking the time. :) Have a good day.

  3. I re-read it as well -- I love the blue ceramics paintings you included in that post! I am working on some oldies myself, -- some of those seem to have dragged forever! I can imagine the paramount work involved in painting quilt, a daunting subject for me so far... I love the orange-blue palette -- which you use so beautifully. It's amazing to see the detailed petals and compare them with the unfinished washes on some other ones -- the magic of how to make object look three-dimensional unfolding right before my eyes! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to see what comes next!
