Delivery

"Backlit Birches" in its new "forever home
50" x 40"
(watercolor on cradled aquabord)

Last week I delivered my commission to its new home.  It will be hung here above the fireplace, but for now, we just placed it to get a feel for how it will look.  We were all pleased with its size relative to the space and the way it reflects the underlying color of the neutral walls.  It's always fun to see the culmination one's efforts displayed in its new space.  A big "thank you" to Lynn and my clients for this wonderful experience!  Oh, and I'm about 5"10' just to give you an idea of the scale.  :)

Below I've included some photos of the painting at various stages.

Have a great weekend!

Tiny Progress

work in progress - detail

I'm working on a very large commission:  40" x 50" watercolor on cradled aquabord -- yeow!  It's pretty exciting working this large albeit a little intimidating as well.  I had to have the aquabord custom made.  If you ever need to speak to the folks at Ampersand, they are very nice and extremely helpful. The board is beautiful.  Anyway, it's a slow process working this huge and unfortunately I can't share it with you yet, but I am taking some photos.  Meanwhile here's very minimal progress on my hydrangea: it's only 8" x 8"  :)  ....  Have a lovely day!

Brady

"Brady"
8" x 8"
(private collection)

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a good weekend.  I finished up two commissions last week.  This is the pet portrait of "Brady" (yes, his owners are New England Patriot fans).  I had a mishap with the gloss medium finish coating but will spare you the gory details.  Let's just say, at hour zero I was repainting the entire painting.  I'm pleased with the results, but could have forgone the last minute stress.  And being the perfectionist that I am, I get a little sick thinking of the "original" and knowing that this isn't totally it.  But again, I'm pleased, and more importantly Brady's owners are pleased.  It's just my own obsessive compulsive issues.

Below is a shot of Brady framed . . . and one of the work in progress.  Now that my two biggies are done, I'm excited to start one new pet portrait commission and get back to my regular paintings this week.

Have a great day and thank you for coming by.

Bookmarks

Hello again.  I'm still working on commissions, although I'm pretty much finished with the large acrylic.  I'll be posting that in a few weeks but have to wait until after it's delivered as it's a surprise.

As for the above image -- I had some bookmarks made.  I think they're cute and have my information on the backside.  I had them made at OvernightPrints.com in case you're looking to have some made.  Lots of people use VistaPrint -- but for some reason, I don't particularly care for them - but hey, if they work for you -- by all means use them.  However, if you're looking for another online printing service, Overnight has always done a great job for me, and I think their prices are pretty competitive.  I like that they can do fairly small runs, allowing me to change up my designs.

Anyhoo . . . that's the latest news here.  I'm finishing up one more commission -- a dog portrait -- and we all know how much I LOVE DOGS!  :)  This one will be done today and delivered tomorrow so I'm excited to finally be able to post it.  That one is a surprise, and I think the recipients do tend to occasionally check out my blog.  Oh my goodness . . . and I've probably already said to much.  I just get so excited.

Anyway . . . really . . . I haven't been slacking . . . just working on other stuff.  :)

Have a great day . . . thank you for stopping in and keep on paintin'!

Commission Sneak Peek

I think it's safe to show you these little snippets from my latest commission as my clients have seen it thus far.  I'm expecting to have the painting part done by today or tomorrow. The painting is a 22" x 42" acrylic on panel. A little different than watercolor, but still a water medium. The colors in these images haven't been corrected so each one may look a little off -- but you get the idea.

I hope you have a lovely day and weekend and as always, I appreciate you stopping by to check out my blog. I'm excited to share with you the final painting all framed up.  So stay tuned . . . same bat channel . . .
