Scammers!

Hello all!  I've been working diligently on a commission today, so I haven't a new progress shot to post, but I wanted to share with you the following email I received today regarding "A Moment's Rest:"

Good day, hope you are good.
I actually observed my wife has been viewing your website (artwork in subject field above) on my laptop and i guess she likes that artwork, I must also say you are doing a great job. I would like to know what inspired that artwork.
I am very much interested in the purchase to surprise my wife.  Kindly email me if it is still available for immediate sales.
Thanks and God bless,
Steve Leavitt.

I was immediately suspicious so I googled the sender and sure enough, it's a scam. Just as I thought. So if any of you artist friends of mine receive such an email, don't waste your time!  And here's the link to the "Anti-Scam Samurai" where I confirmed my suspicions. (practically the exact same email)  Good work, Katie Moe!  :)  And a big booooo to the scammers!

Have a lovely day . . . hope to have some pics for you tomorrow.

  2. I love it when scammers ask 'how can I purchase this most wonderful work of art?' when they've come directly from my blog or website or etsy shop even and I"m like. . . Erm, you HIT THE PAYPAL BUTTON! Derp!! They think we artists is so smart. ;) Glad you caught this one!

  3. Thanks for posting that Kara - it's actually the least obvious one I've seen so far. I can imagine many hungry-to-sell artists falling for that trap, so good on ya.
I like these warm window baskets - very pretty light and makes me think that fall is coming soon - my favorite season!
