This is a little painting I did as a demonstration for a few of my art students last night.  I just love the look of sepia paintings.

The painting is on cradled aquabord as shown below and is ready to hang.

Thank you for viewing my work.  Have a great start to your weekend . . . TGIF!

This post is going to be short and sweet as I'm headed off to bed.  I don't know anything better than marrying two of my childhood favorites in a painting:  Little People and The Little Rascals.  :)

Have a great day!

"Baby Nica"
6" x 6"
(watercolor on aquabord)

And heeeeeere's Nica!  These are the two commissioned pieces I've been working on: same dog as a pup and an adult.

Unfortunately Nica crossed the rainbow bridge sometime last year.  Ugh.  Just tugs at my heart the whole time I'm painting.  But hopefully the portraits will bring back happy memories to her mom and dad each time they look at her.  She was a beautiful golden retriever.

Valentine's Day cards and gift wrap

"Paper Heart #3" notecard

I mentioned yesterday that I have a midwinter sale going on over at my storenvy shop.  Included in the 20% off sale is my valentine notecard.  You can access it out here.

I've also done some updating to my Spoonflower shop where I have a few fabric/gift wrap/wallpaper designs for sale.  I recently added my "Elvis Man" design (see previous post) ... I think it's pretty unique ... and will be adding my Valentine patterns as soon as I receive and approve my proofs.

Coming soon . . . "Pretty in Pink" and "Dancing Hearts."  "Elvis Man" is already available for purchase as fabric or gift wrap.  I can't imagine anyone wanting to wallpaper a room with The King -- ha! -- but I can certainly make it available as wallpaper should someone be interested.

my latest designs -- Valentine patterns not yet for sale -- but keep checking back at:

Midwinter Sale!
click on image for a closer view

Happy Monday!  I have a 20% off sale going on over at my storenvy site on a few selected items, but you must enter through their marketplace for the discount.  The links I've provided take you to one of my items on storenvy.com.  From their you can navigate the sale. A few framed prints and valentine cards are among the selections.  I hope you get a chance to check it out.

In other news, I finished a couple pet portrait commissions last week and am excited to share them with you this week.  A beautiful golden retriever was my subject.  So stay tuned.

Have a great week.

Coming Into Focus

In this little 8" x 10" painting I'm blurring the foreground and creating a sharp focal point.  It's kind of fun and frustrating all at the same time.  But at least it's moving along.

I'm also working on a couple commissions . . . but more on those later.

Have a great day!

More Fun With Spoonflower!

After a long break from painting sometimes it's difficult to get back into the swing of things so in order to do that I decided to some surface design work.  You know how I love patterns, so I got out my motif notebook (I'll tell you a little more about that in a future post) and started doodling.

I also designed some gift wrap based on a silly little drawing that my uncle used to make:  "the Elvis man."  I tweaked him up a little bit and had a roll printed over at spoonflower.com for my uncle.  I can't wait to give it to him!  :)

I'm still debating on whether I should make the Elvis wrap available for purchase.  Ha!  But I guess, why not, eh?

Thanks for popping by.

First Painting

work in progress
8" x 10"
watercolor on aquabord

I finally began a new painting in 2017!  I've been working on some older pieces -- trying to finish them up.  But you know me . . . had to start something new.

I also have a couple commissions I'm working on, but I won't share those until they're done and delivered.

Have a great day!

Happy New Year!!

8" x 8" and 12" x 12"

Well hello again!

Has anyone else had a tough time getting back into the swing of things after the holidays?  It was a glorious end to the year for me.  I had a wonderful Open Studio event at the beginning of December and then slipped into Christmas preparations for the rest of the month.  Because my house was pretty much all decorated I could relax a bit and enjoy my holidays.

However . . . the more time I'm away from my work routine, the more difficult it is to get back into it and am paying the price now.  Ha!  But that's okay.

Just so you know, I still have some 2017 calendars left and they're on sale, so if you're interested, please hop on over to my storenvy shop!  Free shipping in the U.S.

I hope you all had joyous holidays and wish you the best for the year to come!
