Big Bowl

"Big Bowl" ????
12" x 16"
watercolor on paper

work in progress

I think this one is basically done -- maybe a little more tweaking on some "table" shadows but that's about it.  So I need some help naming this one.  If you have any good ideas please let me know.  "Big Bowl" just doesn't cut it!  And like last time, I'll include everyone who participates in a drawing (a "raffle" drawing, not a "pencil drawing, Silly!) . . . and the winner will receive some little "Kara K. Bigda" surprise tidbit. So put your thinking caps on, people!  :)

. . . And thanks for dropping by.  :)

  2. Hi Kara, This is a very interesting painting...maybe like Whistler's mother painting titled, "Study in Black and White", this painting could be "Study in Blues and Browns" or some such! No matter the name, it is an impressive painting.

  3. I love how it turned out, the light is gorgeous. I would think this bowl could use to be filled with something, like apples or such... the bowl is "awaiting"

    1. Thank you, Celia. I agree -- it's too good a bowl to be empty. :)

  4. This is gorgeous. The way you captured the light reflecting onto the ceramic surface is perfect.

  5. It's so funny because I saw this painting and instantly thought of a title for it before I even read your post.

I LOVE this one Kara, it seems to be a bit of a 'looser' departure for you. I love the color and flow of the paint. Paintings like this always get me excited to paint in watercolor again.

My suggestion is "Eretz" which means 'Earth' in Hebrew. I love the sound of that word, so beautiful. Your big bowl reminds me of what the earth looks like. Round and rich with color and life.

    1. Thank you, Crystal. You're so smart and reflective -- and what a lovely word. Thank you. Also -- it's true -- this is a bit looser for me; a conscious decision, so I'm tickled that you noticed! :)
