Here we go again . . . #3 in a series of small cherry paintings.  Again, this is done on Ampersand Aquabord so it doesn't need to be framed under glass . . . or framed at all for that matter.  Thanks for looking and hope you have a great day.

  1. Girl you are really on a roll! I love the perspective on this one and the deep rich colors you achieved on the fruit... I have a question regarding the background patterns -- do you actually post different colored patterns of paper on the background when shooting your reference photo, or do you just have separate references for these patterns and just add them when you paint? And where do you find all these beautiful, interesting patterns that matches the color scheme of your paintings? You rock, Kara!

    1. Hiya! Thanks so much for the sweet comments Arena. I do both -- I have different scrapbooking papers that I use -- I buy them in big books at Michaels. I also have other textile and pattern books (I bought them mostly when I taught high school for references for the kids). But I also make a bunch up. In fact the first cherry background pattern is totally made up -- I didn't even use a reference. Also the pattern on the last pumpkin painting is made up -- although I did use a pattern for reference but changed it quite a bit. I will often change the colors of the patterns to compliment whatever I'm painting but sometimes I'll pick ones with appropriate colors and photograph my still lifes with them. Sometimes I use a couple different ones and pick the best one once I've seen it on the computer. I love playing with shapes and motifs and creating new patterns! :) Thanks for asking.

  2. Un adorable duo de cerises... Elles donnent envie de les croquer...
Les couleurs et les motifs de votre drapé sont ravissants et sont un accord exquis avec ces belles cerises...

    Gros bisous.
