Gourd

Gourd - progress shot #1

I'm working on a new still life -- a gourd painting -- 8" x 8" on aquabord.  Here are my progress shots so far.  I'm starting to feel a little bit back to normal.  Ruts are tough . . . but they always pass.

  1. Do you have any tips for using aquaboard? Your paintings are so well done.

  2. Thank you, Donna. Aquabord has taken me a little bit of time to get used to, so my first and most important tip is just to keep practicing with it. It still doesn't always do what I want, so I'm still learning. Washes are the most difficult for me. I suggest holding the board at an angle when applying background washes. And keep a spray bottle handy to spray areas as they dry. And with any wash, make sure you have lots of paint ready to apply, so you don't need to stop and mix while you're in the middle of your application. Good luck!
