Oh boy . . . have I been lazy about blogging. I think the winter finally just caught up to me and something had to give. The (late) Spring sunshine has me feeling motivated again. Lots of news and images to share:
I am grateful that I was invited to show my work at the Petersham Art Center in Petersham, MA. My friend and former colleague, Cheryl Adams and I got together and opened our show last weekend. She primarily works in printmaking and has some really great work. I think our different styles complement each other well. We had a terrific turn-out and appreciate everyone who volunteered and came out to join us. If you are in the area, be certain to check out the Center.

I've still been doing some sketching . . . here are a few . . .
I'm working from some photos I took last summer during a day trip with my brother. I need to better plan out values for future paintings. I'm also trying to learn how to edit. I tend to be very literal in my interpretations -- not always a good thing.

Thanks for sharing your sketches, although to me these look more like drawings, and pretty darn clear on the values and editing. I can't quite imagine myself doing anything like these as I am linearly challenged. Are these in pencil, marker, ink? I can't quite tell? They're great.
ReplyDeleteLove them Kara!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful. I just love your sense of design in your paintings - you give enough information to enjoy the moment you are displaying with a hint of what could come around the corner. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love your sketches and work in progress! Congratulations on your show!
